Envelliment i Ciutat Workshop

In the frame of the "Una gent gran implicada en la vida de la ciutat 2004-2007" program, within the "La força de la gent gran" project, the "Envelliment i ciutat: reptes i oportunitats per a la ciutadania de totes les edats" workshop took place in Casa Convalescència the 6th October, and was attended by professor Alan Walker. The workshop was organized by the Barcelona Council and the Consell Assessor de la Gent Gran, the technical direction is in charge of the Institut Català de l'Envelliment.

I International Course in Geriatric Medicine - II Update in Geriatrics

The 7th, 8th and 9th July it took place in the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona the I International Course in Geriatric Medicine (II Update in Geriatrics), the course was jointly organised by institutions from three universities: University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), Université de Toulouse and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Constitution of the Alzheimer disease and other dementia research group.

In Casa Convalescència it was held the first meeting for the constitution of the Alzheimer disease and other dementia research group, the XARXALZHEIMER, a network which brings together professionals from several hospitals and long term care centers all of which have dementia-specialized units. This network is born with the aim of being a platform to make multicentric research and to improve the knowledge around Alzheimer disease. Xarxalzheimer has a strong relationship with the European Alzheimer Disease Consortium, which the Institut Català de l'Envelliment belongs to. The Institute coordinates the network with help of the founding members:

MOBEX meeting 2005

The 15th and 16th January, 40 researchers coming across Europe met in the Institute in the occasion of the 2005 MOBEX meeting. Several topics were discussed related to mobility, falls and exercise, as you can see in the meeting program.

MIPAA meeting 2004
The 23rd to 25th November it took place in the Imserso headquarters in Madrid an international technical meeting framed within the process of global analysis, follow-up and evaluation of the aplication of the Madrid Implementation Plan on Ageing (MIPAA), which was approved in the II World Assembly held in Madrid in April 2002. The meeting was titled Moving forwards implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing: Training of professionals on ageing matters..

Signature of a framework agreement with CESNID

The 17th September a framework agreement was signed between Fundació Institut Català de l'Envelliment and Fundació Centre d'Ensenyament Superior de Nutrició i Dietètica (CESNID), in order to develop projects related to nutrition and feeding.

4th edition of the Fundació Conviure Research Awards

The Fundació conviure has announced for the 4th time the Fundació Conviure Research Awards, which will award a research project in the field of the clinical gerontology and socio-sanitary attention which has been done in Catalonia, and will also award a scientific article in the field of the clinical gerontology and socio-sanitary attention which has been done in Catalonia. Participation in the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004

The 11th of july it took place in the Haima of the Universal Forum of Cultures in the cycle "141 questions" the act Why do some cultures venerate the elderly and others disrespect them?, with the participation of Dr. Alexandre Kalache, of the World Health Organisation. The event was a complete success.

Presentation of the Catalonia Aging Yearbook 2004

The Catalonia Aging Yearbook 2004 was presented the 14th June with the presence of the ministry of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Catalan government. The presentation can be downloaded in the documents section.

Update en Geriatria

The 18th of june it was held the course "Update en Geriatria", organised with the collaboration of the Master in Clinical Gerontology of the UAB and the Societat Catalano-Balear de Geriatria i Gerontologia.
